Two TCCS Affiliates Honored by the Sierra Club

Two Texas Center for Climate Studies affiliates have been awarded prestigious awards

Bill Dawson, editor and publisher of the independent Texas Climate News Journal, was the honored recipient of the 2016 Sierra Club David R. Brower Award. The organization presents the award each year to a single individual in recognition of their “outstanding environmental reporting or editorial comment that contributes to a better understanding of environmental issues.” Dawson founded Texas Climate News in 2008 and has been providing independent and credible coverage ever since then on a wide range of issues surrounding climate and climate change.

Katharine Hayhoe, climate scientist from Texas Tech University, was given the organization’s 2016 Distinguished Service Award for her contributions to the science and to helping raise public awareness of climate change.
